Jalebi is a 2018 Bollywood romance-drama, helmed by Pushpdeep Bhardwaj. The movie stars Rhea Chakraborty, Digangana Suryavanshi and Varun Mitra in lead roles.Jalebi is an official remake of the blockbuster Bengali movie Praktan (2016), which stars Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta in lead roles. Jalebi is produced by Mukesh Bhatt & Sakshi Bhatt under the banner Vishesh Films Pvt. Ltd. and is distributed by Viacom18 Motion Pictures.

A woman boards an overnight train and gets placed in a compartment with her former lover and his wife.

Plot : 

Aisha is a budding writer from Mumbai who visits Delhi with her friend, to research for her upcoming book. She meets a local guide, Dev. She falls for Dev. She books another meeting with Dev, with all seats reserved only for them, and surprises him. Finally Aisha proposes to him and they marry. After a few months Aisha realises that she is pregnant. Dev who is extremely happy hearing the news, but Aisha is reluctant to carry the baby as she feels she isn't ready for it. Somehow Dev convinces her for it. They both are seen to be happy and feel that they might have a baby girl and decide to name her Disha, which is a mixture of Dev and Aisha. Unfortunately, they have a miscarriage and Dev's mother blames Aisha for it. Frustrated, Aisha feels humiliated and insulted and leaves Dev. A few days later, Dev and his family try to bring her back but she doesn't. She calls Dev to meet her at a place if he really loves her, but apparently Dev does not come. Seven years later, Aisha calls off her wedding as she is still obsessed with Dev. She decides to move on and face her problems. On her way to Delhi, she meets a lady named Anu and her daughter named Putli. While having a conversation with her, she finds out that the lady is Dev's second wife. She also meets Dev in the train as he is in the same compartment. During the journey, she is reminded of her marriage with Dev (the entire love story) in parts (shown in flashback). Further, Aisha finds out that Putli’s original name was Disha. Highly upset, Aisha chides Dev for naming her Disha. The train reaches the station. While leaving, Anu thanks Aisha for giving her Dev and tells her that she knows that she is Dev's love and first wife. After getting down from the train, Dev goes back to the train to tell Aisha that he had come to meet her that day but somehow felt that she wouldn't remain happy with him. His world is different from hers and he wanted to see her living her life happily and fulfilling her dreams. He also tells her that he had read her novel many times. Both cry and hug each other. She says that although their destinations are different, still their love remains intact. Dev tells Aisha that he would wait for her next novel. A year later Dev finds Aisha's new book named Jalebi which is based on their complicated love story just like a Jalebi.
